Easy Sympathy Card

Another fast and easy sympathy card for another member of the same family as the cards I posted a couple days ago (see here). I used a pre-printed card front in a paper pack from Heartfelt Creations. I would have liked to stamp "with sympathy" inside the circle in the bright light area, but didn't have anything small enough to fit the space.

Cards like these are good when you're in a pinch..... now I really need to work on my stash!

Super Simple Sympathy Cards

I have known I needed to get busy and make some more sympathy cards, as I had depleted my meager stash. But when a large family I know, lost their beloved dad and grandfather in death not too long ago, I had not gotten any made yet.

So I had to make some quick and easy ones.... fast!..... My solution was finding some patterned paper in my stash that was appropriate and stamping the sentiments.

These were super simple... A2 size cards.... I cut the patterned paper slightly smaller to leave border of base showing. Then stamped the sentiment on front and inside. Done.

Decoupage Sympathy Card

It's so very sad when you lose a friend, and for me sympathy cards are hard to make, especially when they are for a member of that person's family.... it just hits too close to home. But sometimes there is that need for these cards, and I find it more special to make them than to go buy one. 

I scored a couple lines down each side of this card. The center circle floral is a 3D decoupage element, and is mounted on metallic gold card. The outside floral frame is popped up from the gold layer.

Below is a better view of the layers.... each being 1/16" higher as it's built up.

The sentiments both on the front and inside are from Stampin' Up's Thoughts & Prayers set. I used CTMH ink in Olive.

Metallic Sympathy

While it is fun making cards, it's never fun when you need a sympathy card. A dear friend of mine lost her daughter this month to a rare disease caused by an infection. I made this card for her. 

I mounted this beautiful decoupage rose on to COPPER METAL mirricard (super heavy card stock). Then I mounted the entire focal piece on a 6x6 white card base, scored with 2 lines across each corner, and stamped the sentiment. (I did stamp an inside sentiment from same stamp set, but forgot to get a photo of it.... stamp is from Stampin' Up! Thoughts & Prayers set)

Here's a couple different angles showing the decoupage layers. The outside patterned frame is popped up from the copper metal layer, while the largest rose circle is attached flat to the copper metal card stock, and built up from there.... each layer is 1/16" higher each.

MASCULINE Sympathy Cards

As promised, here are the 2 masculine sympathy cards I made for friends of mine. (see the feminine card here)... One death in their family affected several lives.... 

These two cards were for 2 men whose relationship are uncle & nephew.... one lost his sister... the mother to the other  :(

I used the same card base and patterned papers (list at bottom), but changed them slightly. I cut 1-1/2" squares and rounded the opposite corners of each. Then I had to decide on the arrangements on each card.

For the first card, I tried the design above... but it looked too much like a flower to me, so I played around with the pieces. I finally chose the option below and just added the extra rounded squares and sentiment below it.

For the second card, I decided I wanted a little dimension, so I added smaller matching pieces on top of 2 sections (a little hard to see in photo below, since they're not popped up yet).... but again this shape looked too girly (flower) to me. 

So more playing around with the paper pieces until I was happy!... Added a couple more 1" rounded squares to the mix and came up with this:

With a 90 degree turn, another set mirroring it below, popped up the small rounded layers and the sentiment... finally happy... and Done!

Feminine Sympathy Card

Recently, some friends of mine lost a family member. I needed both a feminine sympathy card and a couple of masculine cards.

As you probably can tell by the lilies, this is the feminine card!

(I'll put the masculine cards in my next post.)

This friend lost her Grandmother. :(

I had absolutely depleted my sympathy cards, so I had to come up with something quickly. This is just pretty patterned paper on a white card base. Sentiment was done in MS Word to match.

(Sorry, card's a little cockeyed in the photo. I also wished I had removed the white paper from underneath it before snapping the pic... heavy sigh... oh well... you get the idea) 

Sympathy Card

Some sad news for today...

My sister's best friend, Kathy, lost her battle with cancer on July 13th.
They were friends for 40 years!

I actually introduced them back in 1972! We were teenagers then, and had just moved to Dallas at the time. There were lots of kids living in the apartments we moved into, and I had met Kathy's younger sister first. Anyway.... I was in the hospital when she died, so I have just now finished the sympathy card for my dear sister.

I have been making anniversary cards with the retired CTMH paper set
Floral Impressions, and it seemed perfect for the sympathy card as well, since Kathy's favorite color was purple. I also decided to make it a
twisted-easel card. I hope my sister likes it, even though it's very late.
She was up at the hospital with me every day, despite her personal grief.... so I know she'll understand why it's late.

It's just so sad to lose a loved one.

Veranda Sympathy Card

A dear friend of mine recently lost her sister-in-law quite unexpectedly. Since I have been out of store-bought sympathy cards for some time, I had to quickly put one together that was not bulky, so it could be mailed easily.
I took a quick picture of it before getting it off in the mail. This is what I
came up with:

I used the retired Veranda Paper Pack from CTMH, along with the matching Stickease. This set of paper and stickers sure made this really very simple to make on such short notice. I also used the RGB codes in MS Word for the matching sentiment. Sorry I didn't think about getting a shot of the inside of the card to show as well.

I really must get busy and make some sympathy cards up in advance, so I have them on hand when these unexpected and sorrowful situations arise.
