COLORING CLASS - Creating a Cloudy Sky

Since Christina mentioned coloring a cloudy sky in her last video tutorial, I wanted to show a way to do it. I found a video using Copic markers.... but the same technique can be applied to the Spectrum Noir pens.

Watch on YouTube: HERE
(This video is by Annika Ryan. The music is a little too loud in
some places, but they get it straightened out)

You'll just have to experiment with the Spectrum Noir colors to figure out which ones to use for the shading, but I'd start with the very lightest blue - TB1 - to color the spaces around the clouds.

The next Coloring Class will will show how to work with just the Greens...
for coloring a Dragon..... or it could also be good for coloring frogs!

Partial Background Embossing

Gina from Stamp TV does this video, where she uses the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing folder and a score board for the background of this card.
(The focal oval is added on top.)

Gina demonstrates how this is done, and can be done with ANY embossing folder where the design is an all-over one... where the design does not need to oriented in a certain direction to look right. Does that make sense?

Makes for an easy, elegantly designed card... just add a stamped sentiment and a
matted focal image... voila!

Two-Toned Background Embossing Technique

I absolutely LOVE the Square Lattice embossing folder from Stampin' Up! I don't know exactly why, but it just "speaks" to me. In fact it was so loud, that I finally broke down and bought it, lol!

Then I ran across this technique video by Catherine Pooler, an SU consultant of course, who uses this unique embossing folder to achieve a two-toned inked and embossed effect on cardstock for the background of her cards. You'll see a couple of her samples in the video:

Click HERE to watch this on YouTube.

Isn't that a great technique? Love it!

Now you could do this same thing with ANY embossing folder and with ANY colors you choose, as well as ink the opposite side of the folder to have the colors reversed! ... *** NOTE: Clean your brayer and embossing folder with stamp cleaner or baby wipe immediately after embossing.

Butterfly Pansies

This is a video from a Stampin' Up consultant, Dawn Olchefske. She makes the cutest pansies from the SU Butterfly punch (that is no longer available), so if you have the punch already, then you're all set!.... If not, the 2 pieces could be cut by hand.

Either way, the "reinker spread" technique is great!

I saw a gorgeous easel card on Pinterest recently, and I got permission from the designer to post it on my blog!

This is a book-easel card by a talented lady from Australia... Valita Reynolds. Visit her blog at Valita's Designs & Fresh Folds.

Isn't it wonderful?!!! She used the Spellbinders Nestibilties Labels 7 die to make this card. ... AND she made a video tutorial on how to make it!
You can watch it: HERE

The finished card on the video is stunning, too!.... see?
(see Valita's post here)

Valita is such a talented lady, that after seeing this card and looking around her blog for a bit, I signed up as a follower of her blog, subscribed to her YouTube channel, and followed some of her boards on Pinterest! (am I now a stalker? lol) Bet'cha if you take a look, you'll be hooked.... and do the same! :)

NO.... no fooling!.... seriously!... and in colors to match your projects!
This is a really super cool faux-stucco technique and can even be used to "grunge" up a page. This video tutorial is from a DT Member from

Baby Stroller Card

This card is just too cute! :)  It's a standing baby buggy carriage.... Adorable!
I made this for my daughter's surprise baby shower we had this past Saturday, while she was home for a visit.

I used this retired CTMH paper pack called More-to-Adore. Since the bumper pad for the crib is Pink Paisley Splash, I wanted to match the paisley theme, and this paper set was perfect! The card actually matches 3 nesting "hat" boxes I made for her. I will show you those in the next few days!

view laying flat

view standing up!

I got this card idea from Rhea, aka the night owl stamper. She shows how to make these in her 'take 2' attempt of her first video tutorial:

Aren't they precious? Hope you enjoyed it!

Supplies:
CTMH: More to Adore paper pack (retired), Cotton Candy Cardstock, Bitty Sparkles
Martha Stewart Lace Border Punch
Nestabilities Scalloped Circle Die
Adhesive: Dotto and Glue Dots
glitter flower brads (for spokes) and bow were old stash on hand

Hybrid Flowers!

Limor, a design team member for I Am Roses, has a great tutorial on
two very different flowers she made with certain petal packs from I Am Roses. (The middle of the second one she makes reminds me of the cute button carnations Connie MacFarlane made.) I absolutely love the first flower she makes... ooo so pretty!

Watch on YouTube: HERE

Now I guess I'll have to order some more flowers!
