Starburst STAINS at Lindy's Stamp Gang!!

I love Lindy's Stamp Gang's  Starburst Stains!

You can purchase the dauber toppers separately!! How cool! ... Nice size bottles last a long time (2oz).

These are my favorite brand of sprays/stains because they are such rich colors and all are two-toned and so shimmery! Go check them out!
(click on the store name or "starburst stains" above and you'll go directly
to the their website!)

This is a color example of

Isn't it gorgeous?

Making a Square Card Box

In the tutorial video below, Christina uses centimeters in her measurements.

For those of us who don't use the metric system:
1) the 15cm x 15cm card is approximately a 6"x 6" card
2) the 21cm x 21cm square to start the box, is slightly... and I do mean
very slightly... larger than 8.25" x 8.25", so an 8-1/4" square would
     work fine
3) and when she scores the 2.5cm edges, that's about 1" (1" = 2.52cm)

Hope this helps a little with the conversion to inches!

She makes lovely boxes to match her cards all the time... I should do this, too! :)

Painting with Mica Powders

You can really get some stunning effects on cards (or layouts) when painting with mica powders! In the following video, Christina from Card Making Magic, shows how to do this technique, as well as making a gorgeous card with her mica-painted image. She even gives a tip on how to tie a perfect bow!

If you haven't got any mica's laying around, or even if you do, my favorite ones are the magical mica's from Lindy's Stamp Gang (LSG). Check them out!

Glitter Ribbons - Make Your Own!

Christina from Card Making Magic (in England) shows a super easy way to use up some older stuff we may have in our stash, and ends up with some super pretty, glitter strips (ribbons)! She then makes a cute card with her creation:

What cracked me up was that she mentioned that she had picked up the tape
from the local "Pound" Store!

Took me a few seconds to realize that she was not talking about a store where you buy stuff by the pound, she was talking about England's version of
The Dollar Store! ... (too funny.... I'm still ROTFL!!!)

I just have to say something!

This will probably not be funny or even in the least bit interesting, nor amusing to most of you, but to the few who really know me and my daughter well, they will understand why this is hilarious to me...

Big changes have already happened on my daughter's Pinterest Baby Board. Just since Friday, it's gone from blah, blah, blah to PINK! (I wonder why?) ROTFL!... :)

It's a ----- GIRL !!!!

I'm so excited, I just had to share....

Our first Grandbaby is going to be a GIRL!!! YAY!!! Just what we were all hoping for (except the dad, of course, but he's happy!)

We just found out a little bit ago. Our daughter woke me up with the news! Such a nice way to start this beautiful day! :)

Scotch Eggs - A Recipe

SCOTCH EGGS

I have discovered a recipe for Scotch Eggs and thought you might like to try them too

Ingredients:
Oil for frying
Hard-boiled eggs
2 pounds pork sausage
4 cups seasoned dry breadcrumbs (or crushed Corn Flakes!)
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 beaten eggs

Directions:

Hard boil eggs - cool them and then peel

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Preheat oil in fryer to 275 degrees
Section off the sausage into equal amounts (sections equal to the # of hard-boiled eggs)
Flatten each sausage section into patties and place a peeled egg in center
Fold sausage around egg, and form into an egg-shaped ball, with no egg showing
Roll each sausage/egg ball in the flour to coat it
Roll each flour-covered sausage/egg ball in the beaten eggs (helps breadcrumbs to stick)
Roll each in the breadcrumbs
Deep fry until golden brown
Place in oven for 10 minutes
Remove and devour them!

Sounds good to me!

Shutter Card Tutorial

Christina shows how to make a template of this type of card (also known to me as a Tri-fold Shutter Card). She uses measurements in millimeters instead of inches. You can make and then save the template for future reference. (but first see the *note under the video link below)

Christina then shows a beautiful example of the finished result!

*Note: You can find a template in "inches" on my Templates Page, here.
Or click the "Templates" tab at the top of this blog. (Then just scroll down
a little on that page and look for the March 22, 2012 post entitled
Shutter Card)

Trellis Card

Here's another easy and really pretty card from Christina at Card Making
Magic ~~~ the Trellis (or Lattice) Card.

Watch on YouTube: HERE

One option that I would use, would be to glue the patterned paper to the inside front of the card, just on top of the trellis window (facing patterned side of the paper toward the front, of course, so it shows through the trellis). I would do that so that I could still put a sentiment or writing inside the card without that showing through to the front. I would also decorate that right-side sentiment inside as well, and have the sentiment on top of matching patterned paper. Does that make sense?

Rocking Card!

Christina, from Card Making Magic, shows how to make this super cute
Rocking Card! So, so easy and so very lovely and different when completed.

*** NOTE - Be sure that when you fold the 2 circles together, glue
down one side first before the other side - DO NOT glue them together
as "whole" flat circles (or they won't fold properly!)

EXCITING DAY!....

Just wanted to share some exciting news!...

I heard our FIRST grandchild's heartbeat for the first time today! :)  Our daughter is due in August, but she lives 998 miles away! She emailed us a Wave Sound on Feb 27th, and since my hubby works long hours, I wanted to wait to be able to hear it with him this weekend when he's home....

Now I tried to wait until my hubby could listen with me, but
I failed miserably!! I could NOT wait any longer, so I listened (bad Grandma).... DEFINITELY an out of the ordinary day, week, month, year, etc. for me! I just cried and cried... happy tears!
